YCMHA to Offer Goaltender Coaching Clinic, 2009-09-14 Hello coaches/managers, we are pleased to offer a Coaching "Goalie specific" Clinic to better educate you on the recent changes in the position and how this position CAN change the outcome of your season! Goaltending is an elite position, one that is often misunderstood. Goalies are indeed a different breed and although part of your team, they share very little with the actual component of your team. Our intent is to take time to explain, show and demonstrate why goaltenders need be developed differently than the 15 other members of your team. We invite ALL of you present to participate! Elite coaching is all about constant education and no matter now long you have been involved in minor hockey I can assure you, you will come away better educated and better prepared! We will actually show you and give you drills that your tenders can be doing WITHOUT a goalie coach! Our plan is as follows: 10am - meet/greet/introductions Specific Training 11am - 30 mins - verbal overview of the NEW position (video in background) At Game Video & Post Game Analysis 11:30am - 12:45 mins - On Ice Session, components include: - Technical traits, stance, position, agility/mobility - Skating, how to /how not to skate your goaltenders - Drills your goalies CAN use when team has skating minutes - 1 to 1 technical drill sequence (goalie only drills) - 1 to 1 tactical drill sequence (team specific drills) 1pm - 2pm - Goalie Session for YCMHA, all are invited to stay if time allows 2pm - 3pm - 50 min round table/video presentation - Q/A on training to suit the new game - video to include; a) teaching/learning the new game - b) "used by the Pros!" Folks in a nutshell we hope to better equip you for what to look for in your goaltender, what to do to blend your practice plan in with goalie NEEDS and what the importance of having regular "goalie" time can do for your team dynamic and season. We are thrilled to offer this component to you, the coaches of our youth, and we hope you enjoy this clinic!
